At COLOR ID, a person’s ‘true color’ shines through
By Andrea L Auman
Each person is born with inherent personality traits. Over time they develop characteristics or learned behaviors. Those traits and characteristics form who we are as people. How we will deal with things, react to life and process information.
We have tried as humans to read other people, from asking “What’s your sign?” to the online dating services of today, all in an effort to figure out who another person is and what they mean to us. In the beauty/hair color industry we deal with emotions: ego, vanity and vulnerability The client has a need, an expectation, and we must fill those needs otherwise we lose them before we ever really had them. Thus the term “salon hoppers”.
The natural movement then became to create a system that would read those traits and characteristic to meet the needs and wants of every client that sees us. Thus COLOR ID was born. Color is living energy and no matter who you are or where you live, all humans respond to the traits of color. For example, all humans will have their blood pressure rise, muscles tighten and become anxious at exposure to the color red. Conversely the color blue will evoke a sense of calm and tranquility. Given that we know color evokes a feeling and emotion, then it must carry over to personality traits as well. In those traits, the characteristics can change based on experiences with those colors, but the core traits will remain the same.
Taking that knowledge and information the COLOR ID system was put into operation in the beauty/hair color industry. A brief consultation and a few simple questions allow for a window into each client’s personality and unique character. By doing this and applying COLOR ID the individual’s “true color” will shine though, not just from the hue of their hair, but from the core of their personality. With that information COLOR ID allows stylists to create the perfect hair color to compliment not only skin tone and eye color, but personality type giving perfect result each time color is done. COLOR ID gives the client and the colorist a unique relationship.
When a person has a hair color that reflects their true personality they feel more confident, more like “themselves”. The colorist will take great pride in providing not only a service but the gift to bring out a person’s energy and balance.
